Counselling Approaches.

Counselling offers support, and the time and opportunity to talk things through in a safe, confidential, non judgemental environment. Specific difficulties and life issues can be explored, understood and resolved. Many areas of our life can be affected if we are experiencing difficulties of an emotional nature, including relationships, health, confidence, self esteem, employment/career prospects. The process of counselling allows us to explore our true feelings and thoughts about any difficulties, either past or present that may be impacting on our life. This, then, in turn, can help us develop raised self awareness and recognise our own personal profile of strengths to use and enhance our present and future.

I work in an eclectic way, using elements of several theoretical models including: Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic and Humanistic approaches. By working this way I am able to meet the individual needs of clients at all stages of the counselling/therapy process.

I am able to offer both short term counselling and longer term Psychotherapy. Shorter term counselling usually lasts between four to twelve sessions. Psychotherapy typically, aims to deal with more deep rooted problems and involves more sessions. Each session lasts 50 minutes and the initial consultation session is free when we discuss what the aims of therapy are for the client and decide if we both feel we can work together to meet the identified aims.

I am also able to offer personal development workshops and 1-1 sessions using Equine Assisted Therapy. Please follow the following link for more information about this service: Working Wonders
